This is exactly the current state of things. It really just takes one person with a vendetta to get a name banned (reporting through NCSoft site, not just /report).

I really don't see how Felicity Frostbite can be taken personal.

Felicity is a real life name, and Frostbite is a condition caused by cold (quite fitting for an elementalist). That's just plain dumb, no matter how you look at it. :/

Dunno why they ban people for "offensive" names but don't do anything about guild names. I've seen some pretty dodgy ones for sure

my old guild name was banned. but they cant kick you out of a guild. what happens is a guild name that gets banned loses the invite/guest options. but the current members can still play pvp/pve. so if you have enough people in the guild already, they can still continue to hold halls on a banned name.

havent been banned for a name but i have never flt the temptation to push a name to the limit of ok/obscene. name banning is kinda ridiculous though. it is very subjective. who is to say wheter a name is acceptable or not? w/e

Just been banned for 'Ss Reborn' a character that I have had for nearly 3 yrs, apparently someone took offence to the reference of 'Ss' saying it referred to particular activites in the last war :/
and in e-mail tennis with Anet another character 'Arse Kickin Assasin' was also deemed in appropriate so entailed a 72 hour ban lol

I was not banned, but I had a name denied because it meant something in a foreign language. My step-grandfather, Irish by descent and a minister, was called Poppy but with a slightly different spelling. This had nothing to do with the slang use of it in a foreign language which no one here speaks. Anotehr friend could not name their pet warthog "Anklebiter" or any varried spelling thereof. Yet it was denied. This reminds me of the Vietnamese kid whose name was considered too offensive to be stated at his graduation, but means "Blessed of the Buddha".

The real immaturity is in those who are offended. They lack correct judgement and then punish others for their immaturity. The name taken by the OP was never offensives. It is an accurate statement of fact. I garden and I do not use my hoe for painting the house. Anyone who finds offense at correct and right things is less mature and more gutterally minded than those who are honest and blatant with bad language. The person they are trying to hide from afterall, is themselves, and forcing us to do it for them.

For anyone who thinks liberal nazi is an oxymoron the reasons this thread got started are proof they exist.

I know that some players deliberately go out to see what they can get away with in a character name. but for the honest ones, in my tennis e-mail with Anet, once I hit them with two e-mails about how unprofessional it is of them, to just go ahead an ban people(customer who pay for their mechandise) without warning or giving the player the chance to rename the offending chars first. you get no reply back from them at all lmao

Anet lost their loyalty to their customers.My monk had White Powermaster name for more then 3 years.I feel sorry for the noob who think its offensive cause its got nothing to do with racism.So stupid to not let ppl play for this silly reason especially in the time like this! Anet you lost 2 loyal players cause of this just to satisfy some 12 year old who likes to screw others for any reasons at all. Anet seems rather free with the banstick these days. I can understand the more.....graphic names being disallowed, but it's becoming a bit ridiculous. Waaaaaaay too pc.

I'm the one who couldn't name a pet warthog Anklebiter. Three years ago, I took a warthog through the entire Prophecies campaign - named Anklebiter. He was a mean little piggie! So when I tried to name a new one after his/her esteemed ancestor, I was shocked that the name "contained disallowed" parts. No way I tried to spell (Ankle Biter, Anklebiter, Anklebite, etc) was allowed. Something tells me my son's old beloved lizard Fitzlicker (an inside joke amongst friends here) would be smacked with the banstick now.
